I'm able to use the Microsoft Text Translator to translate English to Chinese without a problem, but I just can't seem to get the Document Translation API to work. Yandex, a popular online translator, can translate Simplified characters from Chinese to English, or from English to Simplified Chinese. It is more comfortable for me to quote on the source text. It is difficult to quote on the word count of the translation, as the ratio of Chinese characters to English words probably ranges from 2 to 1.5 or whatever. Enter Pinyin (with or without tones), English words, Chinese characters (simplified or traditional), or a combination of English, Pinyin or Chinese, into the search box. The Spanish, Portuguese, French documents all seem to work (although I am having to do a conversion from Windows-1252 to UTF-8 to get rid of some character encoding issues with a few of the Spanish and Protuguese characters (mb_convert_encoding($response, "Windows-1252", "UTF-8") ). If the source text is in Chinese, it will be based on the word count of Chinese characters. Yandex Translate is a mobile and web service that translates words, phrases, whole texts, and entire websites from English into Chinese.
